SErial Musical Submissions
SEEKING submissions from Philadelphia-based actors for readings of Tyler Tejada’s musical Café Broadwé
Woman 1 (Soprano w/ mix) 20-30. She's got the talent and the skills, but her looks are what keep her from booking the job. Needs to have a “clean” voice with a top/legit.
Woman 2 (Mezzo/Belt) 20-30. Caddy, clumsy. A mix of Sutton Foster/Kristin Chenowith/Annaleigh Ashford in terms of tone quality
Woman 3 (Belter) 40-50. Motherly, strong. Needs to belt and be at home with jazz and rock.
Man 1 (Tenor) 20-30. The host at the cafe. Snippy, Type A, fast paced. The closest of the characters with a “character voice” but will also have a duet with the other male that needs to be sweeter.
Man 2 (Tenor) 20-30. New to the city, sheltered, recently out. Mix of James Jordan/Derek Klena/Aaron Tveit.
Man 3 (Baritone) 40-50. The owner of the cafe, crotchety old man, bark is worse than his bite, good at heart. Older baritone, sweet sound.
Barbershop Quartet 20-50. Ideally seeking men of Asian/Pacific Islander descent, but for the purposes of these initial readings will be willing to hear all ethnicities. Please note that in a fully staged production, we will only be seeking men of Asian/Pacific Islander descent.
Please submit materials by August 15th
WHAT TO PREPARE
Please complete this form to submit for this project. You will be required to submit a headshot, resume, and video of 2 musical theatre selections (1 traditional, 1 contemporary/pop/rock/jazz). You will also be asked about availability for each performance. You do not need to be available for every month, though actors who are available for the entire workshop will have priority.
